About Me

My name is Nealie Silverstein, and I am graduating from Michigan in May of 2022, with a degree in Psychology and a double minor in Writing and Science, Technology & Society.

I was inspired to write about social desirability from my academic background and my own personal experience struggling with its paradoxical nature.  This project is not a solution to the problem illustrated, rather it suggests an overarching sentiment: as we become conscious of any aspect of our identity it loses its hold over us and we have to choose how to respond to it. 

 

We can review the present and not just the past, and we have a continual responsibility to recreate our identities through our choices.
